LaGuardia LGA Airport Guide, about 10 miles and 20-35 minutes from Midtown Manhattan, is the closest of the three major NYC airports. LGA airline hubs include American and Delta and the airport is primarily for domestic use. After a billion dollar renovation, LGA is now on par with any of our best airports with NYC restaurant faves, artwork, high tech, gifts and more. A taxi to Midtown will cost approximately $40 each way, for up to 4 people.

Reader Question: Are there Hotels with FREE shuttles into Manhattan?
NYC Insider Guide Answer: No. There are almost no hotels in NYC that offer free shuttles into Manhattan. I say almost, just in case I’ve missed something, but really, the answer is none. There are free shuttles to most of the hotels near the airports, but not to Manhattan hotels.

LGA Taxi Car Shuttle Costs
As you can see, LGA generally has the lowest transportation costs of the three major NYC airports, since it is the closest to Manhattan. Whether you choose taxi, town car, shuttle or public transportation is your choice depending on the number of people and how much luggage you have.
LGA offers metered taxi cab rates, which means they are dependent on the time, speed and distance from start to destination. During rush hours, you may be better off with a fixed rate town car or shuttle bus. If you choose to take a taxi, you may save money by skipping the bridge toll and asking your driver to take the BQE (Brooklyn Queens Expressway) to the Williamsburg Bridge into the City. This works if you are heading downtown, but will work against you if staying uptown.
LGA Town Car Service
A popular and well-liked NYC Town Car Service company is Carmel.
There’s hardly any difference in price or service, as NYC Limos, also called “black cars” or “town cars,” are very competitive. Their rates tend to be very similar to taxis, and many times, even less with online coupons and specials.
LGA Shuttle Bus Service
Most shuttles are currently on hold for now – please consider a private transfer.
One advantage of shuttles is you do not have to pay tolls or round trip fares.
Go Airlink Airport Shuttle Bus – door to door service. LGA/JFK/EWR.
NYC Express Bus – pick up and drop off at one of several central Manhattan locations with free transfer to smaller hotel vans once in Manhattan. JFK/LGA only.
Airport Shuttle Buses charge per person, while taxis and NYC Limos are one rate for up to 4 people (or more for larger limos). However, shuttle and van services vary when it comes to taking you door to door, and many will drop you off (or pick you up) only at a central Manhattan location. Some offer another complimentary car that will transfer you to your stop. Some will not and you can walk, take the subway or hail a taxi that will likely be around $10.

Parking at LGA Airport
Like most airports, LGA offers both short and long term parking with shuttle service to the terminals. A day of daily parking at LGA will cost $59 in short term lots and $39 in the longer term lots. Currently, LGA is under construction, which has reduced much of their available parking.
Local parking lots with airport shuttle service start at just $18 per day and many offer perks like a car wash or oil change while you are away. Reserving online, in advance, will almost always offer you the best deal. There are tons of places to check to save BIG on airport parking:
