The Perfect Pied-A-Terre from which to Inhale New York City
by Fay
What do you wish for when you think of a New York City – Manhattan holiday? I dream of a location in the heart of the vibrant downtown neighborhoods I love; Union Square, Greenwich Village, Chelsea & Soho. I hope for a conveniently located fully furnished apartment in a vibrant yet safe neighborhood; home to a meticulous owner who ensures all the necessities and conveniences are in place for your arrival.
Even better if there are parks, gyms, indie coffee shops, bookstores, chocolatiers, shopping, and intimate neighborhood restaurants just outside your door. Plus all the services needed for a real-life extended stay (grocery stores, organic food shops, wine boutiques, cinema, manicure bar, health club, dry cleaners, post office etc.). Nearby Union Square Green Market calls with its farm fresh harvest of fruits, vegetables, cheeses, fresh baked goods and more, or head in the other direction for a stroll through Washington Square Park. Join the local crowd lining up at Momofuku Noodle Bar for an indescribably smoky bowl of the best ramen noodle soup; or sample Argentinian Tapas with sangria or red wine. Shop a little with charming vintage finds – the options are endless. Even after a month of daily exploring you feel you have not fully tapped all that is on offer in your immediate neighborhood, let alone the rest of Manhattan.
Walk or jump on any train if you feel like heading to midtown and uptown, and you can be there in one straight shot as there are a multitude of subways trains within 2 minutes walk. The bed is truly luxurious, the apartment comfortable, and even equipped for those who need wifi, printer, fax to stay in touch with the office over a longer stay. The doormen are friendly and helpful and you do feel as you are coming home when they greet you each day. The NYC Insiders Guide provided great tips…loved “Free Tours by Foot” as a great way to get the insiders view of the city’s neighborhoods. I came for a month’s visit and I can truly say it was the perfect place to call home…and I left feeling like a real New Yorker.
Best spot in NYC!
by Michelle
Melissa helped us out with accommodations when the place we had booked turned out to share a bedroom wall with an all night bar. I was delighted to find when I moved to Melissa’s place, that I had a home away from home which, although being right in the midst of all the action, was a quiet and comfortable haven. I stayed 7 weeks in total, and it was fantastic.
Such a great location – walking distance to everywhere local – Greenwich Village/East Village/Gramercy/Flatiron – even Hell’s Kitchen and Soho are only half an hour walk away) and easy subway connections, around the corner from Union Square, next door to Strand Books, and at the top of the Greenwich Village/East Village boundary. Secure and safe with lovely doormen who always helped us out with luggage and groceries.
Very comfortable and beautifully furnished apartment with a really comfy bed! Good kitchen facilities and nice bathroom (with a bath!), overall a fantastic experience and I would definitely stay here again or recommend it to anyone. Melissa was really helpful and even let us keep luggage at her place in the week before we moved there. I’ve stayed in four different apartments/rooms all around New York – and trust me you won’t regret staying here!
Perfect Home Away from Home
by Yolande, South Africa
I had the opportunity to stay here for a month in December 2010, it was the best holiday that I have ever had! The apartment is located in a wonderful area surrounded with everything you need! Perfect for anyone with or without transport. The doormen were very friendly and helpful and the owner was always available to answer any questions. I would definitely use this apartment again! It is equipped with everything you need and very cosy.
Dream Vacation
by Mandie, South Africa
I was so lucky to be able to stay in this apartment during my first visit to New York. The apartment is tastefully furnished, it contains everything you’ll need and has a very cozy atmosphere. It is conveniently located near restaurants, shops and a subway station. Everything was in good working order during my stay, and there was always hot water.
The doormen were absolute sweethearts and always ready with advice about where to go and how to get there. I really couldn’t have asked for a better experience in NY and it was largely due to having such a comfortable home away from home and Melissa’s help during both the planning phase and while I was in the city. Best vacation ever, thanks Melissa!
