The Art Renewal Center presents the 16th International ARC Salon Exhibition hosted by Sotheby’s NY. This exhibition will include 95 works from the largest competition in the world for Contemporary Representational Art, taking place from July 14 – July 24, 2023. The Grand Public Opening will be on July 15, 11am – 3pm. 60 of the exhibiting works will also be available for sale in an online benefit auction hosted on sothebys.com. Bidding will be accepted throughout the exhibition dates.

When talking about competitions and exhibitions dedicated to 21st Century Realism, the International ARC Salon is the largest in the world in terms of entries, and the most diverse in terms of categories and international participation. This makes the International ARC Salon Competition the most influential and far-reaching competition for Contemporary Realism in the world; this, the 16th International ARC Salon, received over 5,400 entries from 75 countries.
With over $130,000 in cash awards and international recognition through partnerships with prestigious magazines, galleries, and museums, with live exhibitions and a strong online presence, the ARC seeks to highlight the work in this area of contemporary art and provide the most skilled and talented artists around the world with opportunities to further their careers. Categories include: Figurative, Portraiture, Imaginative Realism, Drawing, Landscape, Still Life, Plein Air Painting, Fully from Life, Sculpture, Animals, and a special category for teens.
Leading the revival of realism in the visual arts since 1999, the Art Renewal Center® hosts the largest online museum dedicated to representational art and includes works by the Old Masters, 19th, 20th, and 21st century artists as well as articles, letters, and other online resources. The ARC is the foremost and only vetting service for representational art schools, ensuring that the teaching curricula and quality of teacher and student work meet their strict standards to become ARC Approved®. ARC is currently working with over 75 schools and programs around the world. The ARC works with other allied organizations, artist groups, museums, and publications to be a central news hub for the 21st Century Representational Art Movement.
This year, in addition to working with Sotheby’s NY, who has graciously provided gallery space for the ARC Salon Exhibition once again, and the platform for this auction of 60 lots, the Art Renewal Center has partnered with 13 publications who have all given awards in this year’s competition: Fine Art Connoisseur, PleinAir magazine, PoetsArtists magazine, The Artist magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, Enchanted Living Magazine, Artists & Illustrators, InsideArt, Western Art Collector, International Artist, American Art Collector, American Fine Art Magazine, and Sheng Xinyu Art. The ARC has provided additional opportunities through Rehs Contemporary Galleries, NYC, the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM), Barcelona, Spain, the Springville Museum of Art, Utah, Fashion Week San Diego (FWSD), The American Society of Marine Artists, and the Lunar Codex, where all 221 award winners and honorable mentions will be laser-etched on nickel microfiche and/or digitized on terabyte memory cards, and enclosed in a time capsule on the Griffin lunar lander, launched by SpaceX, and placed on the Moon in perpetuity. The Lunar Codex is a set of time capsules launched on three NASA-related missions, including the work of 7,000 creatives. It will be the first significant placement of contemporary arts on the Moon in 50 years and will be launched alongside NASA’s VIPER Rover. Headed for the Lunar South Pole, the launch is currently scheduled for November of 2024.
